8 Things on Our Summer To-do List

We never stop planning and setting goals. (We are project managers, after all).

We do it for our clients, our professional selves AND our personal selves.

This year, we’re even doing it for our summer.
We’ve been inspired by Anita’s son, Ian (one of our Reach Partners kids), who came home one of the last weeks of school with a wish list for summer. This summer he wants to take swimming lessons, have a stick fight, go to the beach, go on a vacation and play outside.  (Thank goodness Disneyland did not make the list, although that may be his idea of a good summer vacation.)

Anita posted the list in her home’s front entry. This way the family won’t forget to do some of the activities.

We decided we could do the same: a Reach Partners summer wish list, now posted for all to see.

Summer is fleeting, and by writing these goals down, we will hold ourselves accountable (and we hope you will, too!):

  1. Rearrange the office. Reach Partners has been in its current location for seven years. We’ve made some changes and added some work spaces. But it’s time for a refresh.

  2. Spend every Friday afternoon outside the office. Easier to say than do, but summer is short. Let’s enjoy it!

  3. Go to a drive-in movie. Anita has never been to a drive-in movie theater, and she wants to experience one with her family — even if it means staying up REALLY late to catch the second feature.

  4. Visit friends and family. Yes, we do this all year long, but it’s easier during the summer.  No worries about road conditions or getting stranded during a snowstorm. Grilling and potluck picnics replace formal entertaining. Easy fun for all.

  5. Immerse ourselves in nature. We will take time to smell the roses … and hike through the trees, meander through the prairies, and take a dip in the lake.

  6. Play with light and dark. In our part of the world, summer days are long. But our summer nights are also filled with light: fireworks, fire flies, campfires. This year Rachel is even inspired to view the solar eclipse (Aug. 21), a brief time when darkness will exist where there usually is light.

  7. Relax in the water.  Swimming in and canoeing on one of the lakes that surround Fargo-Moorhead is a must.

  8. Eat summer foods. Yes, there will be a lot of grilling this summer, but it’s also time to enjoy some other foods. One of Rachel’s favorite traditions is eating cold salad with her fingers, because she can. And, of course, we will plan for special treats at the Moorhead Dairy Queen.

September will be here before we know it. What’s on your summer wish list?
