What makes a community a community? We’ve explored this question time and time again with both our partners and ourselves. And the responses never seem to end. Is it quality schools? Successful businesses? Neighbors who bring you tomatoes from their backyard garden? Or does a community become a community when we can have tough conversations with each other? Or when we create something beautiful together? To be fair, we are confident the answer to all of those questions is “yes,” “yes,” and “yes.” And yet, this week we are feeling especially connected to the idea that creating something beautiful together is a powerful way to build community and honor the place we call home.
Here’s why: Reach Partners will be serving as the vision keeper for the upcoming Fargo Water Tower project. This means we will be facilitating conversations as Fargo residents share their thoughts about the city as home and our community culture. Comments shared during these virtual conversations will inform a design for a new water tower that will replace the blue tank on Seventh Avenue North near University. We are excited to be part of this project. We get to work with both the City of Fargo and Blank Ink Creative Partners. Together we will turn community conversations into public art. We need you to be part of this project, too. We want to hear from all Fargoans, young and old, from the south, midtown or north. We need you to share your thoughts about Fargo as a home, our culture and community. Your comments and ideas will directly inform a design for the new water tower. You can share memories of the past, stories, tall tales, and hopes for the future during virtual community conversations. If you can’t join us virtually, you can share your thoughts through surveys and comments on social media. Essentially, we want to hear from you whether you’ve lived here your entire life or moved here last week: why do you consider Fargo home? Here’s how you can participate: Fargo Community Water Tower Conversations What: Interviews with community members Time/Dates:
