Nothing will work unless you do. Dreams, thoughts and vision are simply not enough to create something. Only through movement, effort and action can an idea form into existence. We can all acknowledge a moment when it’s hard to shift from vision to movement – to make that phone call, get out of bed for a run, move from thought to being. Some of us are apt to think and contemplate thoroughly the perspectives and positions of the concept. Explorers of our own minds. Some are built to relish in quiet contemplation which later transforms the thing into something wondrous, profound and utterly right. Sometimes it’s easier, comfortable and even luxurious to explore and spin through all the derivations of an idea and the perspectives because action is scary. Action means real responsibility. It means material and people and time have to come together; and that’s hard work.
Nothing will work unless you do. Some of us are masters at doing, getting things done, lining up the details as tasks and pushing through until that idea basks in the light of day. The thoughts have been thought, the decisions are made and it’s time to move. The responsibility of action is exciting, and profound; for some of us we find action is energy and instead of diminishing, action actually creates more energy. Nothing will work unless you do. Within the deepest meaning of Maya Angelou’s quip she describes us as the master of our own reality. She’s saying effort is power. By doing we transform our world and our individual thoughts about it and the reward of work is our very being, our humanity. Rachel, PMP
